Team Farewell to three outside hitters
Nico Wegner, Ryan Poole and Zac Hutcheson are not part of the 2026/27 squad.

SWD powervolleys Düren say goodbye to three outside hitters: Nico Wegner, Ryan Poole (Great Britain) and Zac Hutcheson (Canada) will not play for Düren next season. Managing director Tomas Kocian-Falkenbach regrets every departure, as all three had a positive impact on the team. Each has good reasons, though, and the club wishes them all the best.
Nico Wegner: three years in Düren
Nico Wegner joined from second-division side TuS Mondorf and made big strides in his first season. In the following two seasons, long injuries held him back. Off the court, the now 31-year-old became more and more important for team chemistry.
Zac Hutcheson: from injury to the starting line-up
Injuries also played too big a part for Zac Hutcheson. After getting hurt in pre-season, the Canadian fought his way into the starting line-up during the first half of the season with consistently strong performances, only to miss the end of the season injured again. The 28-year-old now ends his playing career and starts out as a coach.
Ryan Poole: the fighter
Ryan Poole impressed from day one with his fighting spirit and unconventional attacks. The league's coaches immediately voted him among the ten best outside hitters. By the end of the season, the Briton was the last fit outside hitter and took on a real leadership role. He is now looking for a new challenge.
This completes the departures from the 2025/26 team. The search for new players is well advanced.
