Team A signing for the future

SWD powervolleys Düren have signed Mykhaylo “Mischa” Kosyak. The 17-year-old libero has signed a three-year contract. In the new season he is part of the Düren squad on a secondary licence and will initially play for the youth project VC Olympia Berlin. Whenever the schedule allows, he will join SWD powervolleys.

A very big talent

Head coach Christophe Achten calls Kosyak, player number 14 in the new squad, a very big talent. He knows him first-hand: Kosyak already trained with Düren at times last season and during this pre-season. He can still improve in some elements, Achten says, but he is already good enough to help the team. Achten describes him as a strong defender with a positive attitude who understands volleyball, and is pleased that he is starting his professional career in Düren.

Looking forward to the arena

Kosyak is especially looking forward to experiencing the atmosphere in the arena from the court. His goal for the season: take on a leading role in the young Berlin team and use his time in Düren to grow into a professional side. In sporting terms, he wants to make the step up to top-flight level.

The 1.85-metre libero trained at the youth performance centre in Frankfurt. Now he is off to Berlin for a season – and to Düren at times. He came to volleyball a few years ago when a good friend took him along. That worked out quite well, he says with a smile.
