The SWD powervolleys Düren middle block for 2026/27 is complete. New to the team is Bulgarian international Preslav Petkov. The 22-year-old stands 2.08 meters tall and last played for Folgore Massa in Italy's second division. He regularly features for Bulgaria and played in the semifinal of the 2025 World Championship.

Coach Christophe Achten calls him a huge talent: Petkov has a good serve, is a strong attacker and a good blocker, and shows emotion on court. Achten is convinced the newcomer will help the team quickly.

One reason for choosing Düren: the crowd. Even watching on screen, Petkov noticed the special atmosphere in the arena – and it clearly influenced his decision. His talks with the coach also clicked, as both want to play a modern, fast game.

His goal for his first season in Düren is clear: to improve in every skill and help bring a title to the fans.
