Team Jordan Canham keeps hammering for Düren

SWD powervolleys Düren can count on Jordan Canham next season too: the 25-year-old Canadian has extended his contract. Düren keep one of the top attackers in the Bundesliga – the coaches of all teams just voted him third-best opposite of the league. Managing director Tomas Kocian-Falkenbach is delighted. That Canham met the club halfway in the negotiations is seen as a clear commitment to Düren.

One of the league's best opposites

Canham is valued not only for his hitting power and strong statistics. He also works very hard for his team, Kocian-Falkenbach stresses. That showed in the quarterfinal return leg in Giesen, where Canham stepped in on reception even though it is not his specialty. With so many injuries, everyone helped wherever they could – that is what defines the team, Canham says.

Feeling at home in Düren

That mentality is one reason for his extension. Canham also wants to keep developing in Düren. Next season Düren play in European competition, and the atmosphere in the arena is unique – that makes Düren attractive and word gets around. Feeling at home matters to him as well: with his fiancée, he finds people in Düren who are always there for you, so you can focus fully on volleyball.

Looking forward to Lüneburg

Until then, his focus is on the current season. The win against Giesen despite many injuries gives the team extra confidence. In the semifinal, league leaders SVG Lüneburg await – a very strong opponent and great fun, according to Canham.
