Match report Into the cup quarterfinals with a 3-0
3-0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-15) against WWK Volleys München: Düren reach the quarterfinals of the Zoi DVV Cup and win their sixth straight competitive match in straight sets.

SWD powervolleys Düren are through to the quarterfinals of the Zoi DVV Cup. In the round of 16 they beat Bundesliga rivals WWK Volleys München 3-0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-15). After the league meeting, it is the second 0-3 defeat for Munich in Düren, and Düren have now won their sixth straight competitive match without dropping a set. Head coach Christophe Achten praised a very good and consistent performance: Munich are still searching for their game, he said, while his team has found its way of playing volleyball and never really let the opponent into the match.
A block party to start
Düren opened with a run of block points. By 4-1, every player at the net in the first rotation had scored one block: Daniel Wetter, then Robert Viiber, then Robin Baghdady. Philipp Lauter followed with an ace for 5-1, and when Jordan Canham blocked for 9-3, the direction was clear. Munich improved in attack, but the visitors made more errors than the aggressive hosts. Düren took the set 25-16.
Wobbles in the second set
The second set started like the first: 5-1 again, again after block points and aces, and 9-3 once more, this time after an ace from Wetter. This time, however, the lead did not hold. Munich's tactical serving put Düren under pressure, the attacking pressure dropped, and the visitors scored on the counterattack out of defense. The lead shrank to 13-11. Munich got no closer: Düren cut out the wobbles, the visitors now made errors of their own and ended up four points behind again. The set finished 25-21. Achten put the ups and downs down to the heavy load of many matches in a short time, adding that his team had handled that confidently as well.
Viiber's rescue decides the third set
In the third set Düren did not pull away from the start, only later. The key moment: setter Viiber dug an attack with a diving save and still played the ball forward so well that Marcin Ernastowicz could score right away. That made it 14-10, and Munich never recovered. The visitors made more errors, while Düren stayed consistent and aggressive and won the set 25-15.
Top match against Berlin on 15 November
The quarterfinal draw of the men's Zoi DVV Cup takes place on Sunday, right after VfB Friedrichshafen against SVG Lüneburg. For the first time this season Düren now have a little time to catch their breath. On 15 November SWD powervolleys, top of the Volleyball Bundesliga, host second-placed record champions BERLIN RECYCLING Volleys in the top match of the round.
