Team High-flying middle blocker from the USA
US international Daniel Wetter strengthens the middle – with world-class reach at the net.

SWD powervolleys Düren fill one of the open middle blocker spots with Daniel Wetter. The 27-year-old American has been part of his national team since 2024 and spent the last three years at Paris Volley. Düren libero Troy Gooch is also on the provisional US roster for the Volleyball Nations League.
Huge reach at the net
At 1.96 meters, Wetter is not particularly tall for a middle blocker. What counts is how high he reaches: his spike reach is listed at 3.76 meters and his block reach at 3.53 meters – top international values.
Head coach Christophe Achten sees him as a very strong attacker the club already knows a lot about. Besides Troy Gooch, François Huetz knows him well – he played in Düren in 2024/25 before moving to Paris, and recommended the move to both sides.
The big goal: the Olympics
Wetter says he heard nothing but good things about the team and always wanted to play in Germany. With Troy Gooch, he now plays alongside a fellow American at the same club for the first time.
He sees his strengths in attack and serve, and wants to improve his footwork at the block and his back-row defense. For him, Düren is a chance to develop and earn a regular spot with the US team. His goals: a title with Düren and, in the long run, the Olympic Games.
