Team Reinforcement from Puerto Rico
Strong serve, stable reception: Omar Hoyos puts Puerto Rico on Düren's map.

SWD powervolleys Düren strengthen their outside attack with Omar Hoyos. The 24-year-old, who stands 1.96 meters tall, joins after two seasons in Spain. He also adds a new country to Düren's map: Hoyos is the first volleyball player from Puerto Rico to wear the powervolleys jersey.
He chose Düren because he sees the chance to develop and compete at a high level, Hoyos says. Coaches and players told him a lot of good things about the club and the league. He has followed the Bundesliga for a long time and knows Düren is always among the strong teams.
He is especially looking forward to the fans. He has heard how passionate the crowd at Arena Kreis Düren is – like a seventh player on court.
Coach Christophe Achten describes him as a versatile outside hitter with a strong serve, a dangerous attack including from the back row, and stable reception. Hoyos himself wants to become more consistent in attack, as blocks in the Bundesliga are often taller. His goal: to establish himself as one of the league's best outside hitters and to fight for every trophy with Düren.
